I was doing a mortgage refinance in Manasquan the other day and decided I had to finally learn a little more about the town with the funny name. So here it is:
Manasquan is a Borough in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2000 United States Census, the borough population was 6,310.
The borough’s name is of Lenni Lenape origin, Man – A – Squaw – Han (stream of the Island of Squaws). Manasquan, Maniquan, Mannisquan, Manasquam, Squan, and Squan Village are variations on the original pronunciation and spelling. The meaning has also been interpreted as “an island with enclosure for squans.”[
So there it is (from Wikipedia). Maybe next week we’ll do Matawan.
And if you do happen to be looking to refinance a mortgage is Manasquan, or Matawan, or even Cranford NJ, please give me a call!
